The first industrial plant in the world for 100% recycling of used absorbent hygiene products.
The solution to the diaper end-of-life issue is now reality.
Absorbent hygiene products are collected by specialized operators through door-to-door collection and brought to central structures. The material is then brought to the diaper recycling facility, in which the recovery process will begin.
The most important part of the process. In this phase, the autoclave and dryer sterilize, pre-separate, and dry the material, managing to completely eliminate bad odours and potential pathogens.
An array of separators in series allows, by means of a system of rotating cylinders, to separate and recover secondary raw material. The mechanism allows the production of cellulose, plastic, and superabsorbent polymer from processed waste.
Thanks to the innovative technology – the first in the world – created by Fater, a single plant may now process about 10,000 metric tons of absorbent hygiene products per year, equal to waste produced by 1 million people. On October 25th 2017, at the company Contarina, in Treviso, we have launched the first-ever plant in the world able to recycle 100% of used absorbent hygiene products.
